about

The Noosa Jazz Party

The Noosa heads jazz Club

presents an event called the Noosa Jazz Party that has closely followed the format of the original “party” of 24 years ago organised by Frank Johnson and Richard Stevens.

In an annual series of four concerts the Club brings together the cream of Australian jazz musicians for a sophisticated and rewarding long weekend. It is enjoyed by both audiences and performers alike!

The Noosa Jazz Party is staged in late August to early September each year and usually over nine or ten days culminating in a closing event on Father’s Day.

A real celebration of traditional classic jazz and a unique event - unlike any other jazz festival in Australia!

A Perfect time to Visit Noosa

Why do so many of our visitors return time and time again?

They come to Noosa for two main reasons:

  • One to listen to the best jazz musicians that Australia has to offer.

  • Secondly to enjoy the sunny, mild Noosa days and escape the Melbourne & NZ Winter.

About the Noosa Jazz Party

First presented in 1992 as the Noosa Jazz Party and then subsequently rebadged as the Noosa Jazz Festival.

The Noosa Heads Jazz Club revived the original Jazz Party format in 2011 initially as the traditional component of the Jazz Festival and in 2016 as an event in its own right when the event company that organised the Noosa Jazz Festival ceased operating.

No other jazz festival in Australia offers the prospect of enjoying more than 25 of Australia's top traditional jazz musicians, plus high-profile overseas musicians all performing in one locality.

The invited musicians form into unique bands or ensembles challenging their skills and leading to exciting improvisation.
