The story so far…..
Noosa Jazz Party
These are extracts from a selection of positive comments and feedback received so far from respondents to the 2016 Noosa Jazz Party Audience Survey.
“The Noosa Chorale and the Australian Jazz Ensemble were fantastic. Such an enjoyable performance.”
“Thanks to all the wonderful helpful volunteers. Best Noosa Festival/Jazz Party ever held. As good if not better than any jazz festival in Australia. Music, venues, food, personnel incredibly good. Very well organised and plenty to choose from”.
“Really appreciate all the hard work put in by the whole team to make this a really memorable occasion. This is my annual ‘fix’ for jazz of this style. Love it.”
“It’s a thing of constant wonder that the Noosa Jazz Club – Patsy and Richard Stevens in particular – devote so much of their lives to the promotion of Jazz. Noosa Jazz Club is arguably the best Jazz Club in Australia.”
“Food standard was excellent, as was the choice of wines.” “The location at The J is more convenient than the Bicentennial Hall.” “The shuttle bus is excellent”
“Had great meals at numerous restaurants really great. Congratulations on a wonderful party & thanks to Patsy and Richard & all the volunteers we had a great time and will be back again.”
“This was our first Noosa Jazz Party and we thoroughly enjoyed it – all the volunteers were lovely and helpful and they deserve a big pat on the back. Hopefully we will see you again with more friends.”
“Appreciate the move to The “J” from Bicentennial Hall, so much easier to get to.” “Booking people very helpful”
Compared to last year, ticket sales at The J were up by 3% for the joint Noosa Chorale and Australian Jazz Ensemble concerts (Roaring 20s) and by 10% for the four days of classic jazz at The J.
Based on ticket sales and our estimates of people who came to the public concert, the various street events, the numbers who were at the various luncheons and dinners at restaurants and the Sunshine Beach Surf Club we estimate that the overall numbers were up on last year by over 40%.
We don’t have a complete analysis of the proportion of those attending all the events but some of the participating restaurants have reported that 50% of their customers were from interstate or New Zealand.
Add to all this that we were blessed with great late winter and early spring weather we can confidently say that the Jazz Party has been a great success for the 2016 Jazz Party
Record turn-up for “Roaring 20’s”
A record 600 jazz and chorale fans packed The J for the Noosa Jazz Party and Noosa Chorale’s “Roaring 20’s” two concerts in August.
“This is our 22nd year and we’ve never had so many people come to hear us,” Chorale publicity man, Jim Fagan, said.
“It was a musical experience to perform with such talented musicians like Melbourne singer Juliarna Clark, Bob Barnard and The Australian Jazz Ensemble.
“We’re known as a classical choir, specialising in great western composers like Verdi, Brahms and Handel.“ I can tell you the 70 singers we had on stage had the time of their lives singing the timeless jazz classics by Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and the like.
