DESCRIPTION:A sizzling concert of hot jazz  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nMore Information and Buy Tickets  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Noosa Heads Jazz Club warmly welcomes the sizzling Braben-Jenner HOT FIVE with special guest Grace Rigby \n\n\n\nHot Jazz from the 1920s\, 30s and 40s that was performed by Louis Armstrong\, King Oliver\, Sidney Bechet\, amongst many other luminaries of the golden era of Jazz\, is music that will keep your toes tapping. \n\n\n\nJoin world class Paul Williams on Saxophone and Clarinet\, David Burrows\, sizzling Guitarist\, Jo Bloomfield\, admired as one of Queensland’s foremost Pianists of Hot Jazz and Boogie Woogie\, Peter Freeman’s driving bass\, John Braben’s Hot Trumpet and the bold interpretations and emotive stage presence of vocalist Grace Rigby. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to welcoming you \n\n\n\nAbout the Band:  \n\n\n\nJOHN BRABEN Trumpet. \n\n\n\nJohn Braben is one of Australia’s leading players of the “hot jazz” style. His biting tone and straight ahead\, always tasteful\, accurate lead and his exciting and creative solos are always a highlight of his musicianship.  His influences were the early New Orleans and Chicago bands\, and of course individual trumpeters/cornetists such as Louis Armstrong and Bix Beiderbecke. \n\n\n\nPAUL WILLIAMS Saxophone & Clarinet.  \n\n\n\nBorn in London\, Paul turned professional in 1965 and toured England and Europe for eighteen months then spent a further eighteen months in Greece and Turkey playing on American basses then played for 12 months on cruise ships between England and Australia before settling in Sydney in 1972.  He has played for artists such as Isaac Hayes\, Cilla Black\, Al Martino\, Gene Pitney and with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra backing Linda Ronstadt.  Paul Williams\, the master musician and local Gentleman of Jazz. \n\n\n\nJO BLOOMFIELD Piano.  \n\n\n\nJo is a highly skilled and sought after talent within Australia. She has worked with dozens of internationally acclaimed performers and possesses an extraordinary ability to play superb keyboard Bass as well as piano. An unrivalled lady of Boogie Woogie and early Jazz styles\, yet equally accomplished performing all types of Jazz\, Classical\, Latin and Pop/Rock genres. \n\n\n\nDAVID BURROWS Guitar. \n\n\n\nAn acclaimed Queensland guitarist and an accomplished luthier\, selling his much in demand instruments to guitarists around Australia.  He has entertained Noosa and the Sunshine Coast audiences at festivals and concerts for over 30 years. Today he is performing on one of his own beautifully crafted guitars. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPETER FREEMAN Bass. \n\n\n\nPeter Freeman is an Associate Lecturer at the UQ School of Music with ongoing interests in the music of Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim\, jazz\, music technology and popular music.  He is a high quality on-call bass player for many local jazz groups and the arranger and coordinator of the Tropical Dance Orchestra. \n\n\n\nGRACE RIGBY Vocalist. \n\n\n\nVocalist Grace Rigby and her dazzling interpretations and emotive stage presence have made her a standout performer with the University of Queensland Big Band and the Braben-Jenner Hot Five. \n\n\n\nThe Majestic Theatre Welcomes the Noosa Jazz Club Members and Guests \n\n\n\nTo enjoy your concert experience here are a few things to know:  \n\n\n\n\nThe Majestic Theatre offers a full bar service and some light snacks such as chocolates and crisps.\n\n\n\nSeating is at allocated tables with chairs and some chairs at the back of the room without tables.\n\n\n\nYou are welcome to bring your own snacks but please note this is a licensed venue and bringing alcohol is not permitted. \n\n\n\nThere are seats in the Mezzanine area upstairs and if booking this area please note that there is no lift for upstairs access.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nMore Information and Buy Tickets  \n\n\n\n\nWe look forward to welcoming you to an afternoon of great jazz.
