Welcome Sophie Lever – the new Treasurer of the Noosa Heads Jazz Club

23.01.2025 Sophie & Richard

As we welcome Sophie we thank Doug McGuffog as our outgoing treasurer who is stepping back to focus on study. Doug has been instrumental in bringing the club to the digital age and introducing efficient processes to the day to day administrative tasks of the Club. Doug will continue to assist with the Membership Register and media until Sophie becomes familiar with the requirements of her new role.

About Sophie

You may have already met or seen Sophie at Jazz Club functions – as she is the daughter of Richard Stevens, our President. Sophie comes to us with a fairly comprehensive knowledge of the history of the Club and as a recently retired solicitor has a depth of skills that will ensure the Jazz Club will continue to be well managed under her watch. We all wish Sophie every success in her new role as our Treasurer.

Looking Back

On the 23rd of January, the first monthly concert was held at the Majestic Theatre in Pomona.  Approximately 90 attendees enjoyed the Home Brew band consisting of Jo Bloomfield (piano), Brett Iggulden OAM (trumpet, sax, vocals), Chris Schnack (trombone), Paul Williams (clarinet and sax), Dave Burrows (guitar), Richard Stevens (Sousaphone) and Rod Andrew (drums).   Jo was described by band leader Brett as the “best boogie boogie piano player in Australia” as demonstrated during the band’s energetic rendition of “T Model Boogie”. This was a happy toe tapping way to get into the swing of things for 2025!
